The Melbourne Township Farmers' Market is launching its fourteenth season and is dedicated to the sale of produce and products from the township of Melbourne, Richmond and surrounding areas. This grass-roots initiative brings together more than twenty producers and the diversity of products on offer is remarkable: breads, pastries, various meats, fish, cheeses, fresh vegetables, garlic, grapes, olives, ciders, wood-working items, corn, Vietnamese dishes, cakes, pies, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, pâtés, coffee, butter, eggs, nuts, sprouts, maple syrup and maple products, chocolates, crafts, apples, mushrooms, plants, and much more.
The market is a meeting place for local citizens and for seasonal visitors. For some, it is a venue which allows them to offer their products locally and directly to the consumers, without third-party intervention. For visitors, it offers them the opportunity to purchase local, healthy products, directly from the producers. For others, it is a gathering place and a treasure trove of friendship. The market is a social area where the population can get together in a family-friendly country setting.
A new outdoor pavilion and picnic area was built in 2013 thanks to a partnership with the municipality of the Canton de Melbourne and of the " pacte rural du CLD du Val-St-François ", and will enable the market to hold social and cultural activities.
