Emptying of septic tank
In order to adequately protect public health and the environment, the Municipality of the Canton of Melbourne has instituted a program of systematic emptying of septic tanks every two (2) years for permanent residences and for seasonnal residence, in accordance with the Regulation respecting waste water disposal systems for isolated dwellings Environment Quality Act (Q-2, R.22).

The properties located on the following roads are part of the list of septic tanks that will be emptied during the 2023 summer season.
Bellevue – Blake – Booth – Champigny – Cimetière – Crack – Cull – Fowler – Frank – Garrett – Grainger – Gunter – Keenan – Kingsbury St Francois – Lucas – Lussier – Marguerites – Morin – Morrison – Norris – Oak Hill – de la Rivière – Sims – Tournesol – Valley – Wilkins and route 143.
Are you eligible for a tax credit?
Good to know: Tax credit for the upgrading of residential wastewater treatment facilites:
You can get a tax credit of 20% of the amount of the work to bring your septic system up to standard, up to a maximum of 5,500$ per eligible dwelling (main residence or year-round habitable chalet). The work must be carried out by a qualified contractor between March 31, 2017 and April 1st, 2027. For more details, click here
