In order to adequately protect public health and the environment, the Municipality of the Canton of Melbourne has instituted a program of systematic emptying of septic tanks every two (2) years for permanent residences and for seasonnal residence, in accordance with the Regulation respecting waste water disposal systems for isolated dwellings Environment Quality Act (Q-2, R.22).

Properties located on the roads listed below must have their septic tanks emptied every two years.
Please note that the contractor is responsible for producing the septic tank emptying schedule. A letter will be sent to each affected property owner approximately 30 days before the visit to inform them of the week in which it is scheduled. This process usually takes place during the summer months.The properties located on the following roads are part of the list of septic tanks that will be emptied during the 2023 summer season.

Good to know: Tax credit for the upgrading of residential wastewater treatment facilites:
You can get a tax credit of 20% of the amount of the work to bring your septic system up to standard, up to a maximum of 5,500$ per eligible dwelling (main residence or year-round habitable chalet). The work must be carried out by a qualified contractor between March 31, 2017 and April 1st, 2027. For more details, click here
